We want to play more ping pong in Bali

We started playing table tennis in bars during our time in London. What we loved was how easily some ping pong could make social drinks so much more fun! Proper players could have a serious hit, beginners could jump in, and friends could play a few games while having a drink and a good chat .

We got more into the sport, researching rubbers and equipment, and even playing in local tournaments. Then we moved to Bali.

We wanted to keep playing. But finding a good table wasn't easy. Information was scattered, tables came and went, and the quality of the playing experience could be pretty unpredictable.

And, of course, we discovered padel. We spent the next few years battling it out on court, getting hooked on the sport and playing more than our fair share of insanely sweaty hours.

We still love it, but we kept wanting to play some ping pong too!

It's different. You can build it into a night out. You can have a proper game without spending two hours drenched in sweat. And sometimes the best part is simply standing around a table, having a hit and having a proper chat.

Then we hosted a tournament at our villa.

Our table became the centre of the party. People who had never played before got involved, the games got competitive, and by the end of the night we had a proper tournament going. More importantly, it gave people a way to meet, to play and to chat - without the awkward small talk.

We saw the same thing at a rare table tennis event here at Lucky Plaza, a Chinese restaurant in Pererenan. Great atmosphere, friendly competition, people mixing and playing together. It showed us what table tennis could look like here.

So we decided to create Bali Ping Pong.

We're helping build Bali's table tennis scene: finding the best places to play, putting more tables in great venues, helping people hire tables for their own events, and giving more people a reason to pick up a bat.

Based in Canggu. Playing across Bali.
